- The
band produced 5 Munster Solo Champions.

Cullen Pipe Band remains the Munster Trio piping Champions
- In
May members of the band played in concert with the Chieftains in
Dingle.
- The
Band won the South of Ireland Championships in Tralee.
- The
Drum core won the “Best core of Drums” in Grade 3 and also in Open
Grade incl. Best bass and Tenor at the Munster Pipe Band
Championships in Tulla.
- The
Band were placed 4th at the mid Ulster Contest in
Cookstown
- At
the All Ireland Contest in Letterkenny the band moved up a notch
and was placed 3rd.
- For
the first time in the band’s history we were placed at the World
Pipe Band Contest in Glasgow. On this very memorable day the band
won 4th place.
- A
wonderful welcome home reception was held to celebrate the band’s
great achievements in 2006 in the village. Many thanks to the
local organisations the people of Cullen and surrounding areas for
their continued and grateful support.
- In November the
Band’s 65th anniversary was celebrated in the Wallis
Arms Hotel.

2005
- Piper
Collette O Connor won the Munster Junior Solo Piping Championship
in Newcastlewest.

Cullen Pipe Band AGM elected Con Houlihan as Pipe Major for the
30th. year in succession.

Cullen pipers Miriam Hickey, Caitlin & Con Houlihan dominate in
Munster Trio piping competitions in Newcastlewest & Tralee.

2004
- A major
recruiting/training programme was undertaken, as well as
fulfilling annual engagements.

2003
- Margaret Houlihan
made piping history by becoming the first woman to win an 'A'
grade light music prize at either Oban or Inverness, being placed
first in the Strathspey and reel at the Argyllshire Gathering.

- All Irelands
2002, Placed 3rd in Grade 3B

2001

Cullen Pipe Band played at the New York St. Patrick's Day Parade
for the first time in its history. Many thanks to the County Cork
Association and also to our own Colette O' Connor for making us
feel so welcome and for making the trip and stay a success.
- A new uniform had
also been acquired, the new kilt is Mac Donald Lord Of The Isles
Hunting Tartan

Upcoming trip to New York on St. Patrick's Day announced, to
coincide with our 60th anniversary

1999
- Band won 2nd
place in Cobh Mini Bands in our first contest since being upgraded
to Grade 3. Also won 4th in Grade 3 and 3rd in Open Grade in
Youghal.
- Margaret Houlihan
and Cathy O'Donoughue won 1st place in Solo Piping and
Drumming respectively.
- The Munster solo
Piping & Drumming contest, saw Catriona Hickey win the first ever
Tenor Drumming competition held in Ireland.

- The Band won
All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships in Grade 4

1997
- Band won 6th
place at European Championships in Bangor, Co. Down.
- Also produced 5
Munster Solo Champions and 1 All-Ireland champion.
- Our Band decided
to make a positive contribution to North-South relations and
invited the McNeillstown Pipe Band from Portglenone to visit
Cullen.
- The band also
took part in the Interceltique Festival in Lorient, Brittany

1996
- Our Drum Corps
won the All-Ireland Drumming and the Band was placed 10th in the
World Championships in Glasgow.(Grade 4)
- Also played for
the opening of the Curtis Cup Golf Classic in Killarney.
- Later that year
we fulfilled a second invitation to perform in
Monte Sant Angelo,
Italy.

1995
- Hosted the
Inaugral Duhallow Pipe Band Championships in Cullen.
- Band won the
Munster Championships, Champion of Champions and also 4th place in
the All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships in Newcastle, Co. Down.
- A group from
Cullen were invited to play with Narraghmore Pipe Band at the
Europeade Festival in Valencia, Spain. A few members also visited
La Coruna, Spain with the Ringaskiddy Pipe Band and to finish off
the year a few members performed in Monte Sant Angelo in Italy
